Preparing PDA for installation
If you have never used this feature before, you will need to (a) install the PC synchronising software that was supplied with your PDA onto your PC and then (b) connect the cradle to any of your PC's USB ports. For further details please refer to the pages on synchronisation in the documentation that was supplied with your PDA.

Installing Java for PDAs
There are two versions of Java available from the Mobile Support page of the My Account section on our dealing platform. The version required depends on the version of Windows your PDA uses. If you have Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Edition you will need the specific instructions at the bottom of this page.

For all other versions of Pocket PC/Windows Mobile the following instructions apply:

  • Ensure you have Microsoft ActiveSync on your desktop PC.
  • Place device in the cradle connected to your desktop.
  • Click on the Download Java button in the Mobile Support section of My
  • Account and choose Open or Run. (If you choose to Save and select the location Desktop, an icon named JeodeForPocketPC.exe will appear. Double-click on the icon to open.)
  • Select Run to install. This will load the Install Wizard.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation, selecting Next and
  • Agree and so on.
  • Confirmation of the installation should appear on your device's screen.

  • Inside this folder are two files:
    Uninst.log; and
    jeode_evm_win.ce.420.pocketpc2003_arm_j2meppfull10_
    win.cab
  • Drag the second file (the .cab file) across to the mobile.
  • Open ActiveSync (if the phone is connected to the PC correctly the ActiveSync symbol by the clock should be green) by double-clicking on the icon. This will open up the ActiveSync screen. If asked to choose a partnership chose Guest.
  • Select Explore.
  • Leaving the Explore file open, double-click on the file previously saved on the Desktop entitled: C:\Program Files\Jbed FastDAC Early Access.
  • Locate the .cab file:
    jeode_evm_win.ce.420.pocketpc2003_arm_j2meppfull10_
    win.cab
  • Drag the file from this location and drop it in the mobile Explore section.
  • Find the file on your device (normally in My Documents) and double-click on it to install.
  • Reset the device by turning it off and on.
  • Now install the Mobile Dealing application by clicking on the Download Mobile Dealing for PDA button on this page.

BlackBerry Phones
The first time you open the application you will be asked whether your connection is being made via a proxy server. If you have a corporate BlackBerry it is likely to go through a proxy connection and you will therefore need to check this option. Personal BlackBerry devices are unlikely to go through a proxy.

If you receive an 'Error 201' message when logging into the application this would indicate that the settings are not set up correctly. Please note that for corporate BlackBerry phones it may be necessary to make changes to the Firewall settings. For further details please contact us. If you incorrectly checked the Proxy setting you can change this via the Menu button within the Login screen and then selecting Apply.

Error messages
If you are receiving any error messages please go through the following checklist:

  • Is the phone listed as a phone we support?
  • Have you have entered the correct details, account number and password?
  • Are the GPRS settings are configured correctly i.e. full GPRS or Full Internet Access (not WAP)?
  • Have you restarted the device since installing or upgrading the software?
  • Did you agree to the permissions option to use the internet connection when prompted by the application?
  • Do you have enough memory to support the application?
